How are you? Did you have a nice weekend?
On Saturday, my friend and I organised a get-together in Liverpool at a
Japanese restaurant. It was a chance for people who had lived in Japan,
visited Japan, or have an interest in the country to get together, chat,
and enjoy some good Japanese food and drink.
Between us we had tsukemono, edamame, agedashidofu, sushi, gyoza, karaage,
nanbanzuke, koroke, sushi, grilled fish, curry, udon, and of course lots of
beer. My favourite beer at that restaurant is karuga rouge. It's a
strong, dark Japanese beer. Do you know it? It's delicious!
It happened to be my friend's birthday too so the staff decorated the table
with origami and a birthday message, and we got a special birthday dessert
for her too. She seemed to be pleased and surprised by that.
During the evening, I started talking to someone who has also taught
English is Japan. They told me they lived in Toyama. So did I! They then
told me they worked in Toyama city. So did I! They also said they lived
in an apartment block called Skytown, and guess what? So did I! It was
an unbelievable coincidence! In fact, this person lived at Skytown only
two years before me so we knew almost all the same people! It was a crazy
coincidence, especially because we are now both living in Liverpool! We
will have lots to talk about from now on...!
The whole evening was lovely and I gave everyone a small Japanese souvenir
to express my gratitude for making the evening so nice. I am looking
forward to meeting up with my new acquaintances again to have fun and
keep our memories of Japan alive!
I hope you are all well and have a great week. Thank you for reading
this. I will see you again next week!
Best wishes, from Corrina. ☺️
