Edo Pop

Hi everyone,

How are you today?

This week I'd like to tell you about some volunteer work I've done. I

spent three days at The Lady Lever Art Gallery (there are pictures at the

top and bottom of this article) in Port Sunlight. I've written about Port

Sunlight on this blog before. It's a really unique and beautiful village.

During the time I was at The Lady Lever Art Gallery, I helped install a

collection of Japanese ukiyo-e to make an exhibition called Edo Pop. The

collection of woodblock prints shows scenes of 19th Century Edo and is

really colourful and interesting. You can read information about the

exhibition, see some of the ukiyo-e, and watch a video of the

curator here...

Whilst the Edo Pop exhibition is displayed at the gallery, there are

various Japanese events happening. For example, Japanese embroidery, a

koto performance, Tanabata, a kimono demonstration, and many more. I will

be helping at the Tanabata event this weekend so I'll tell you about it

next time...

Thank you for reading this. I hope you are all well and have a great

week. Until next time, take care! Best wishes, from Corrina. ☺️
