A Japanese festival in Liverpool

Hi everyone,

How are you? Did you have a nice Obon holiday?

As for me, last weekend my Japanese friend and I organised a Japanese

festival. It was held in the Japanese section of Festival Gardens

in Liverpool: it was an appropriate place for a Japanese matsuri!

First, we made an area for changing clothes: people had the chance to

be dressed by a Japanese lady who knew how to put on yukata. Here is me

and another participant after we had our yukata put on...

Then we had a picnic and everyone brought some food to share. This

included Japanese festival food such as yakisoba, takoyaki, and

choco-bananas. In addition, we had chirashizushi, omusubi, gomaae,

edamame, teriyaki chicken, gyoza, fried shrimps, and some western-style

food too...

As you know, I love Japanese food so I was in heaven!

After we finished eating and drinking, my Japanese friend did storytelling

and games for children...

Then another Japanese lady did yoga for children and adults. In these

pictures, the people are trying to be a "carrot" and then a "dragon"...

And we finished the festival with Doraemon bon odori...

It was such fun and a very successful event. Thank you to everyone who

helped. I can't wait to hold another matsuri like this next summer!

Thank you for reading this. I hope you all had a great Obon. I'm looking

forward to hearing your stories. Until next time, take care!

Best wishes, from Corrina. ☺️
