Aunty and niece time on Bank Holiday Monday

Hi everyone,

How are you today? Has the summer holiday come to an end? I hope you made

lots of good memories.

Last week was a bank holiday weekend in England. This means most people

had a day off on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday too. To celebrate the time

off, I took my niece to a festival near the Mersey River in Liverpool on

Monday. This festival was called "Folk on the Dock" because it was held in

Liverpool docks and there was lots of folk music too. (You can see a

picture of the music stage at the top of this article.)

We could get sweet treats from the ice cream van and the Village Bus Cafe...

There was a man sculpting statues of The Beatles from wood. He used a saw

to do this...

In addition, children and adults could enjoy fairground attractions and the

one that got my niece's attention was a carrousel...

Traditional carrousels have only horse statues on them but this one had

allsorts of animals and my niece chose the elephant...

I also got on the carrousel with her and enjoyed the view of the river and

boats. If you look closely, you can see a brightly-coloured boat. These

are called "dazzle ships" and they were used in wartime because the

patterns confused the enemy...

After all that walking and excitement, my niece fell fast asleep! It was a

lovely day out and I'm glad I could spend that time together.

Do you also have some nice memories from the summer holiday? If so, please

do let me hear them.

Thank you for reading this. I'm looking forward to next time. Until then,

take care!

Best wishes, from Corrina. ☺️
