Hi everyone,
How are you?
Today, August 6th, marks the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima. As we do every year, my friend in Ishikawa prefecture and I
folded paper cranes, which are a symbol of peace, to send to Hiroshima
Peace Park in time for the A-bomb commemoration ceremony. In total, we had
1300 cranes, which you can see at the top of this blog, but I have to admit
my contribution was small this year - only 200. However, that's better than
nothing - it's the thought that counts.
Along with our cranes, we wrote some messages, which you can see at the
bottom of this article. My prayer for no more incidents like Hiroshima (and
Nagasaki) and world peace was extended to the victims of a terrible crime
that happened right near my hometown last week. Three small children were
brutally murdered, and 10 people were severely injured. The incident has
sparked riots across the UK, so there continues to be violence all over the
place. Here are more details of what has happened...
Southport stabbings - what we know so far about knife attack - BBC News
Despite the fact that the crime was unprovoked and so shockingly sad, so I
understand people's anger, I feel that reacting to violence with violence
is not the answer. With my cranes, I pray for compassion, empathy, peace,
and goodwill to us all living in this world. May we all be happy, may we
all be well.
Thank you for reading this. Take good care of yourselves and the people
around you, and I'll look forward to seeing you again next time.
Best wishes, from Corrina.☺️
